  1. Germany declares war on Russia
  2. France pledges their support for Russia
  3. Germany declares war on France
  4. Germany invades Belgium on the way to France
  5. Great Britain supports Belgium and declares war on Germany.


The Treaty of London, 1839:

Why Britain declared war on Germany:

In 1839, Britain had signed an international treaty guaranteeing that Belgium would always remain a neutral country, Germnay too had guaranteed this.

Therefore, when Germany invaded Belgium, on 4th August 1914, Britain entered the war to defend Belgium's right to be neutral.
