DIRECT TITRATION DOSAGE

Chemistry

Definition

Titration Dosage
Reaction of the studied substance (S) with another substance (S) of known characteristics. The chemical reaction must be rapid, total, and specific to the known species. The titration is destructive to the known species.
Sample Taking
A precise volume of the titrated substance that will react with the titrating solution or that we wish to measure.
Titrating Solution
A solution of known concentration that will react with the sample taken.
EQUIVALENCE
This is the moment of titration when both reactants are added in stoichiometric proportions and are completely consumed.

Schematic

Before the equivalence, the limiting reactant is the titrating reactant. After the equivalence, it is the titrated reactant.

The EQ= the moment of titration where there is a change of reactant.

At EQ, the quantities of matter of the titrating and titrated reactants are introduced in stoichiometric proportions.

nia/a = nib/b Ca x Va/a = Cb x Vb,eq/b

>Ca=a x Cb x Vb,eq/ Va x b

At the final state: Xf= C1 x V1/ a= x and C2 xV2,eq/b =x

To Remember:

n= CxV

C=n/V

At EQ: ns2O3 2-= 2xNI2

A dosage by titration is destructive
