GENERALLY !
Formation : to Verb + -(e)s à la 3ème personne du singulier
I often use a scooter to go to school. It’s faster than walking or waiting for a bus.
My brother listens to the radio at least 6 hours a week.
My mum never washes the glasses. She is afraid of breaking them.
He’s always breaking the law (Il faut toujours qu’il enfreigne la loi)
He always breaks his glass after drinking vodka. It’s the Russian way ! Constatation
I know them all (I’m not knowing them all)
Oh, yes. I understand now. (I’m understanding)
*Remarque : I think = I give an opinion regarding something.
I’m thinking = now I’m turning the idea in my head (Je réfléchis).
Question/ Négation : Utiliser l’auxiliaire Do(es) devant le sujet
Do you want more ? What does he think of the idea ?
NOW !
Formation : Be + V-ing
Oh, no ! It’s raining.
Look ! They are not listening at all
Listen. They are arguing again.
Question/ Négation : Placer l’auxiliaire devant le sujet : Are you coming with us ?
He leaves the house every morning (Habitude)
He’s leaving in 10 minutes (Présent avec marqueur futur)
Next weekend, I’m giving a party. You’re all invited.
He gives parties every other week (Habitude) It’s nice for his friends.
I’m not coming tomorrow.
Ex : There’s no need to hurry. The film does not begin until 8 at Kinepolis (Same time as usual).
- John’s invited us to see Stallone’s latest film. We’re going tonight at eight.
- Right. I know you. No need to hurry ; it’s not beginning* before eight. You know John’s always late. Anyway, he’ll wait until every body has arrived.
